A little Pumpkin Birthday Invitation

One of my most favorite people asked me to design a First Birthday invitation for her precious little boy (who I'm obsessed with!). Since he has an October birthday, the party is pumpkin/fall themed. How sweet is this! For inquiries, email Sarah.S.empress@gmail.com.

Meet me at the Blow Dry Bar!

We had just finished working with Megan on her wedding suite (coming soon!)when she asked us to design an invitation she could send her bridesmaids for a beauty day at the blow dry bar. For those of you that are unfamiliar to the new boutique-like approach for hair styling, Blow Dry bars are all the rage! We have one here in Birmingham, where they offer everything from styling for special events to what I call a "feel good" days (get your nails done, hair cut/highlighted, and blown out). All the while, you get to watch fun girly movies (i.e. Mean Girls, Clueless, AHHH!)and sip champagne! If you can't tell, I was thrilled to design this invite. I think it work well for birthday parties too! For inquiries, email us at sarah.s.empress@gmail.com.

Alden + Gavin Wedding Day

We had the pleasure of once again working with Pineapple Productions on a BEAUTIFUL wedding in Middleburg, Virginia this past spring that I've been waiting to share. I am beyond thrilled that Weddings Unveiled Magazine chose to feature Alden and Gavin's special day. This was an amazing couple that was brought together through the mutual love of horses and horse training. They have a fabulous story that you'll have to read in the magazine, but as you can see, we strived for true equestrian excellence! Special thanks to Jennifer Hughes Photography and of course the girls at Pineapple Productions!

Capitol Hill Save the Dates

I designed these save-the-dates for a couple in Washington D.C. that was looking for a simple design that incorporated the iconic Capitol building and especially the Washington monument. With a palette of grays and blush, you really can't go wrong! I love a wedding piece that out-of-town guests are excited to receive, and sets the tone for the wedding weekend. These measure 4.25 x 6.25 and were sent with a matching gray envelope. I always offer a few different options on custom orders, and thought I'd share another of the options. I like it just as much!

St. Patricks Wedding

More Save the Dates!

We have been busy gals this summer getting ready for the Fall and December weddings! I'm finally getting a chance to post some things we've been working on. Our Save the Date Postcards are so hot right now, we are filling orders constantly! No need for envelopes, just write the address and throw it in the mail! And did you know postage is way cheaper for postcards? So its definitely an economical alternative for the bride on a budget, while being a great way to announce upcoming nuptials. These two designs we're showing today are available now for you to customize and make your own! Contact us for pricing information and we'll get started!

Southern Save the Dates

Recently we had the pleasure of working with Erin in Atlanta on her Save the Dates. Erin knew she wanted a postcard design. Using the color of the bridesmaid dresses, we decided on a charcoal gray with white for a high contrast. We had so much fun designing these!

A Sweet Baby Boy is on the Way!

So 10 years ago this week, I moved into my freshman dorm at Auburn University (WAR EAGLE!) and felt the same anxiety I think every freshman feels living away from home for the first time. I went potluck, and it was probably the best decision I made when kicking off my college career. And here's why...the two girls in the room next to mine would become my life-long friends. The friends I would live with my junior and senior year. The friends I'd spend countless hours with laughing and experiencing the best time of my life. Allison is one of those girls. And by Labor Day Weekend, she will be a mother...so crazy but so beautiful. I was there the night she and her husband Jared met at one of our favorite hangouts in Auburn. I stood by her side when they said "I Do," and now I'll be "Aunt Jessi" to sweet baby Riggs. We threw Allison a baby shower in July and I couldn't wait to post the invitations designed for the big day, along with Rigg's personal stationery...This baby boy is going to be so loved!

Harry Potter Pre-Movie Bash

I am so behind on this post...we're talking about 10 months here. I was conversing with a coworker this morning about my love for Harry Potter movies (I've listed to like 4 of the books on audio book. Like them, love the movies...backwards I know). I love the movies so much so that I waited to see all eight of them before even thinking about reading listening to the books. I love the thrill of not knowing what will happen in a movie. Why on earth would I want to know what happens to our dear Harry before I spend about 10 bucks at the theater? Anywho. I realized I NEVER POSTED PICS FROM MY HARRY POTTER PARTY! Arg. So here goes... Sarah and I concocted a little pre-Harry bash for some friends...just a small get-together, nothing fancy. Just some chocolate covered frogs, maybe some acid pops here, chocolate licorice wands there...oh and its not a party without butter beer...you see how this snowballed into quite the event. So we spent the better part of that week in the kitchen after work...pretending we were Lucy and Ethel at the candy conveyor belt. Sidenote: Do you know how hard it is to find a frog-shaped frog mold only 48 hours before a party??? I do. Thank the Lord my friend Malinda at Atomic Cakery volunteered her skills for the butter beer cupcakes. Well, sweets weren't enough. My mom volunteered her FANTASTIC shepherds pie (because thats what they eat at the Three Broomsticks in Hogsmeade, duh). Throw in some costumes, a nice little Platform 9 3/4 sign, and we've got a party! ENJOY!

A St. Michaels Soiree

I once again had the pleasure of working with Pineapple Productions for a wedding in St. Michaels, Maryland. You may remember the Save the Dates I previously posted, and I promised more from this beautiful wedding so...here it is! All photography courtesy of the verytalented Jacqueline Campbell. Visit her blog for more gorgeous pictures from the event.
For this special day, we designed postcards for guests to leave sweet words for Lisa & Toby. What a great keepsake! The menus carried the lantern motif and were mounted on sea foam card stock. Table numbers were designed using vintage postcards from St. Michaels.
Guests received a welcome bag, tied with a welcome tag from Lisa and Toby. Each bag had a box of homemade twix-style candy bars (yum!) for a bayside break. We also designed a 12-page weekend itinerary that included the a sweet note from Toby and Lisa, a vintage-style map of St. Michaels, a list of Restaurants and things to do, and of course schedule and transportation info. The programs were printed on ivory cover stock and tied with a strand of rafia. Cheers to a fabulous wedding, Lisa and Toby! Look for more of our work with Pineapple Productions in the future!

New Wedding Invitation

Happy Sunday! Just wanted to share a wedding invitation designed for an April wedding at the Tampa art museum. Elizabeth wanted sleek modern with a touch of elegance. We also designed Elizabeth + Justin's Save the Date postcards.

Jennifer + Nate Wedding Invitations and Wedding Day

Hello All! Hoping your weekend is fabulous! Today I'm sharing the wedding suite for my cousin's wedding! Jennifer and I are 1 year apart, and have been incredibly close growing up. I was so blessed to be not only a bridesmaid, but also the designer for all of her paper needs! Jennifer has been one of our biggest fans as we grow this business, and my sister and I both are so grateful for her support.
Jennifer lives in Tampa, and her venue for the ceremony and reception was the Grand Hyatt on the bay. She wanted a crisp, clean color palette with sunny yellows, grays, and blues, with a blend of modern and traditional.

Following the ceremony, guests entered the cocktail area and enjoyed delicious apps before dinner. I designed these drink flags, as well as drink straws (not pictured) to place around the bar.
For guest seating, we decided to use travel tags because there were so many people that traveled to the wedding, and for all of us Alabama folk...well it was a vacation! I found a large gold frame at Hobby Lobby and sprayed it with a high gloss white, then filled it with corkboard that was covered with a soft gray velvet fabric. This is where we hung the seating tags for guests to pick up as they entered the dining area after cocktails and yummy quick bites.
Jenn put together a fantastic candy bar for guests to enjoy, and pack into little take home boxes. She found all different sizes of apothecary jars and I made the corresponding labels.
The whole fam had a great time! A wedding day success and wonderful trip!
